Methods in Diffusion Approximation for Multi-Server Systems: Sandwich, Uniform Attraction and State-Space Collapse
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this chapter, we demonstrate through simple queueing models some of the methods that have been developed for the diffusion approximation. Specifically, we first show how the sandwich method is used to establish the diffusion approximation for a multi-server queue, and next show how the uniform attraction and the state-space collapse method is used to establish the diffusion approximation for a multi-class queue under a first-in-first-out (FIFO) service discipline. Finally, we use all of the above methods to establish the diffusion approximation for a system with multi-channel queues to which the jobs are routed based on a join-the-shortestqueue (JSQ) routing control.

State Space Collapse in Many-Server Diffusion Limits of Parallel Server Systems
We consider a class of queueing systems that consist of server pools in parallel and multiple customer classes. Customer service times are assumed to be exponentially distributed. We study the asymptotic behavior of these queueing systems in a heavy traffic regime that is known as the Halfin and Whitt many-server asymptotic regime. Our main contribution is a general framework for establishing s...
متن کاملOn Two-Echelon Multi-Server Queue with Balking and Limited Intermediate Buffer
In this paper we study two echelon multi-server tandom queueing systems where customers arrive according to a poisson process with two different rates. The service rates at both echelons are independent of each other. The service times of customers is assumed to be completed in two stages. The service times at each stage are exponentially distributed. At the first stage, the customers may balk ...

Uncertainty analysis of hierarchical granular structures for multi-granulation typical hesitant fuzzy approximation space
Hierarchical structures and uncertainty measures are two main aspects in granular computing, approximate reasoning and cognitive process. Typical hesitant fuzzy sets, as a prime extension of fuzzy sets, are more flexible to reflect the hesitance and ambiguity in knowledge representation and decision making. In this paper, we mainly investigate the hierarchical structures and uncertainty measure...
